PEOPLE who have received their new five-year Freedom Pass are being reminded the new pass is valid for use immediately.
London public transport watchdog London TravelWatch says it has been flooded with enquiries from people asking when they can start using their new pass.
The current Freedom Pass, which allows Londoners to travel free on public transport in London and can also be used for free travel on buses nationwide, runs out at the end of this month.
Users have been encouraged to apply early for their new pass, which now contains an electronic chip, because it could not be issued over the counter straight away.
TraveWatch says this has led to confusion among many users who are under the impression they cannot use their new pass until the old one has run out.
