ERITH & BELVEDERE: Pensioners use webcams for a joint fundraiser

5:39pm Friday 23rd October 2009

OLDER people living in sheltered housing schemes in Erith and Belvedere linked a series of fundraising events at their homes, using computers and webcams.

Six schemes in Erith and Belvedere, run by Orbit South housing association, raised more than £900 for Macmillan Cancer Support by taking part in the charity’s world’s biggest coffee morning.

As well as tea, coffee and cakes, many of the residents held raffles to boost their proceeds.

Residents at Buckle Court in Fendyke Road, Belvedere, spent the whole week leading up to the coffeee morning collecting cash, while those at Lambert Court in Randall Close, Erith, invited friends, family and the local community to enjoy a morning of music and competitions as well as cake and coffee.
