Fun day for children's charity

A CHARITY welcomed the Orpington May Queen to its annual fun day, receiving a cheque from her for £500.

The Maypole Project, which supports children with complex medical needs, raised £1,000 from stalls and activities at its event.

Having chosen it as her charity of the year, the Orpington May Queen Lizzie Warner presented a cheque to the project's service director Sally Taylor.

There were lots of prizes to be won on the tombola, envelope lottery and lucky dips.

The charity's fundraising Coordinator Rachel Banbury said: "The inflatable bouncy castle and assault course were a big hit with the children and even some of the grown ups.

"The turnout was brilliant from friends and families that we support and the local community."
