Say aloha to festival with a touch of Hawaiian glamour

EVERYTHING from a Hawaiian beach to Hot Chocolate is on offer at this year's Thamesmead Community Festival.

The free festival, which takes place in Birchmere Park, Southwood Road, Thamesmead, on Saturday, has something for everyone, including a star line-up on the music stage.

Among those taking part are 70s band Hot Chocolate, Michelle Gayle, Moni Tivony (Lionel Ritchie from BBC's The One and Only), Blues Brothers Uncut and T2 and Addictive, as well as a wealth of talent from the area.

The beach is back again this year, with a touch of Hawaiian glamour.

If lazing around on the sand does not appeal, there is plenty to do in the activity and sports zones.

There will be a climbing wall, basketball, football and a host of sporting demonstrations.

Children's attractions include rides, a bungee trampoline and an inflatable playground.

Mums can enjoy a smoothie, learn relaxing breathing techniques or try out some ballroom or salsa moves on the dancefloor.

The festival runs from 10am to 8pm, with parking in Glendale Way.
