Student entrepreneurs are the business

TEAMS of secondary school pupils have battled it out for the chance to represent Bexley in the next round of the national Young Enterprise competition.

The seven teams created their own companies and a product or service to sell within their schools and at Greenwich Market.

Each team had to set up a display of their product at the Marriott Hotel in Bexleyheath Broadway, and produce a business report and accounts for a panel of judges.

They also had to give a live presentation about their business in front of their competitors and the event's sponsors.

The best company, which will go to the London heats, was I-Saw - a joint venture from Bexley Grammar School and Welling School.

Flux from Beths Grammar School was named runner-up and won the best stand award.

Glue, from Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School, won the best presentation and environmental trophies.

Roffle, also from Chislehurst and Sidcup, won best product, and Summit from Beths Grammar School won the best use of IT trophy.

The event was organised by Sidcup Rotary Club and the Bexley Education Business Partnership and the judges were chaired by Philip Woodman, president elect of the Rotary Club.
