Familiar face named Lib Dem candidate

Duncan Borrowman will be the Liberal Democrat candidate for the Old Bexley and Sidcup seat Duncan Borrowman will be the Liberal Democrat candidate for the Old Bexley and Sidcup seat

A FAMILIAR face in Liberal Democrat politics has been chosen as the prospective parliamentary candidate to fight the Old Bexley and Sidcup seat at the next general election.

And one of Duncan Borrowman's first actions has been to launch a survey into NHS services in the area.

Mr Borrowman was brought up in Bexley, attending Hurst Primary School and Bexley Technical High School for Boys.

In the past he has been a Bromley councillor, a London Assembly candidate and was, until recently, the Lib Dems' national campaigns officer.

He currently works for a multinational company on a political marketing project and lives with his partner in Bexley with their two daughters.

Mr Borrowman says he is particularly concerned about the future of Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup.

He said: "It has treated me since my childhood and both my daughters were born there."

Mr Borrowman says he first raised concerns about the hospital and the possible downgrading of its A&E department in 2003.

He said: "In particular, I was concerned any downgrading of A&E services would have an inevitable impact on the viability of other facilities, and lead to questions about the future of the hospital.

"Recent developments confirm my concerns then were right."

The online survey on Mr Borrowman's website cover all aspects of the health service, from dental and out-of-hours services to nurses' pay.
