Drivers of cars that can be driven 'keyless' are being warned to keep their vehicles secure after a surge of thefts in the Sidcup area.
Sidcup Police issued the warning after a BMW was stolen by two men from a driveway on Lyndon Drive in Blackfen - without keys - just after 1 am on Thursday morning.
Officers in the area have recently dealt with several similar cases in the area, where the thieves have taken cars that do not need keys in order to be driven.
They have warned drivers with these cars to keep their keys in a tin or a faraday bag - both of which block the signal from the keys - to prevent thieves from boosting the signal.
Another measure drivers are urged to take is putting a steering wheel lock in the car, as these can only be unlocked with a key.
