Securitas raid: CCTV cameras not checked

POLICE did not check CCTV cameras which would have proved a Securitas manager was kidnapped before a £53 million depot raid, the Old Bailey heard yesterday.

Colin Dixon, aged 52, said he was abducted at gunpoint by two men posing as police officers as he drove home in Tonbridge, Kent, on February 21 last year.

At an isolated farm he was quizzed about security measures before the men carried out Britain's biggest ever cash heist, the court heard.

Under cross-examination by suspect Stuart Royle, from Maidstone, now defending himself, DC John Wood, of Kent Police, admitted he had not been asked to check for CCTV or traffic cameras along the route to the farm.

Seven people on trial in connection with the robbery deny conspiracy to kidnap, conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to possess a firearm.

They include Roger Coutts, aged 30, of The Green, Welling; Michelle Hogg, aged 32, of Brinklow Crescent, Woolwich, and five others.

One other man denies handling stolen goods.
