A woman has claimed she was the victim of a brutal road-rage assault in Welling where she was punched and had her hair pulled.

The victim, who does not want to be named, said she was driving through Welling at about 7.15pm on Monday, October 9.

She said she pulled out onto Okehampton Crescent but was met with a barrage of noise from behind her.

As she pulled into the road, the car behind had been speeding and started beeping and flashing at her, before pulling up alongside her.

The victim then said the driver was shouting and swearing at her as they approached the roundabout.

She said: "She got out the car and I put my window up. She was swearing so much and yelling, I then tried to put my window down to talk to her. She hit me and went to walk away.

"What happened next was my mistake. I got out my car and walked after her. She pulled my hair and spat at me, and was shouting so much. It was very scary. I only got out to see why she was so angry."

According to the victim, the "mad driver" then tried to run her over.

She said: "She got back in her car and I was caught between two open doors as she tried to drive off. My car is damaged and my leg is badly bruised.

"I am recovering well but this woman cannot walk away from this with no consequences. Somebody must have seen what happened. It was vicious

"It is no way to behave no matter what has happened."

Police are now appealing for information about the assault.

A spokesman for the Met said: "The victim, a woman in her late 30s, was spat at and kicked by another woman who is described as white and aged between 30-40.

"Police made enquiries. Anyone with information should contact Bexley MPS on 101."

The victim said she was desperate for witnesses to come forward. She added: "It hasn't put me off driving but I drive very slowly now, I am scared. Somebody must have seen something, but nobody stopped to help.

"I'm asking for the public's help for information."
