A mother and daughter duo have opened a vintage 1940s style tea room in Sidcup.

Rebecca Tippett and mum Tracey opened Violet's Tea Room in Sidcup Hill just eight weeks ago.

Rebecca, a self confessed vintage nerd, said they have already got regulars coming back to have tea to the tunes of Vera Lynn.

She said: "Since we've opened it has been brilliant. There has been loads of support from the local people in Sidcup.

"I don't think there is anything else like this around really, it's unique.

"It's all 1940s themed, and we have authentic gas masks and 40s china as well. I think it's all got to be done properly."

Tracey runs the tea room with her daughter stepping in two days a week, as she already runs a micropub a few doors down.

Rebecca said: "It's great really, we already have some regulars who keep coming back. On Saturday's we dress up, we are really committed to it. There's nothing else around like this that I can think of."

Violet's serves loose teas, homemade cakes and sandwiches.

Rebecca said there are plans for cupcake lessons for children over Halloween and that they are preparing a seasonal menu for Christmas.
