Bexley’s top ten GP surgeries have been rated by patients in a new survey.
The annual GP Patient Survey asks residents about their opinions of practices and measures their views on things like the ease of making appointments, waiting times, the quality of care given, opening times and out-of-hours services.
Nearly 3,000 people took part in the survey in Bexley.
Mill Road Surgery in Erith came out on top with a huge 96 per cent of patients saying their practice was good as they find it easy to get through to this surgery by phone and to make appointments, and are satisfied with the opening hours.
Eight of 27 practices in the survey scored more than 90 per cent and 10 were above the UK average of 85 per cent.
The worst was Woodlands Surgery, Halfway Street, Sidcup, with 65 per cent although patients reported that the last GP they saw or spoke to was good at treating them with care and concern, the last GP they saw or spoke to was good at explaining tests and treatments and the last GP they saw or spoke to was good at giving them enough time.
On average 79 per cent said that their overall experience of their GP surgeries was good. This was below the national average of 85 per cent. Patients in Bexley also found it harder than the average nationwide to get through on the phone, with 58 per cent saying it was easy compared to the national average of 68 per cent, and 38 per cent saying it was not easy, compared to 28 per cent nationally.
