A refurbished beach playground is set to open in Belvedere this week.

Belvedere Beach will open to the public at 12pm this Thursday on the site of the former splash park in Woolwich Road.

The new park is seaside themed and will be open to the public for free all year round.

Councillor Peter Craske, cabinet member for community safety, environment and leisure, said: “Belvedere Beach is a tremendous landmark that will be here for years to come. Both contemporary and unique, children of all abilities will be able to take part in themed, imaginary play.

“And with the on-site facilities, families can now stay and play for longer.

“The new playground will also be open all year round and is yet another reason to come and visit our fantastic borough. I am looking forward to the opening next week and hope to see lots of people there!”

The park is decorated with a fishing shack, treasure chest and roosting seagulls and there will be water play areas, swings, trampolines and a climbing frame.
