Plans to build 58 flats at Sidcup Hill have been submitted to Bexley Council.

The three-storey Oceanic House office block currently there will be demolished and replaced by the six-storey L-shaped block of flats.

There will be 19 one-bed flats and 39 two-bed flats along with a car park and new entrance onto Rectory Lane.

The plans were submitted by Shanly Homes to Bexley Council’s planning committee on May 26.

Some locals are unhappy about the plans and have been writing to the planning committee with their concerns about traffic and harm to the look of the area.

A spokesperson from Sidcup Community Group said: “From the look of the submitted drawings, Sidcup Hill will be flattened.

“There are real concerns about parking, traffic flow and Cross Road is unsuited for all the additional cars that this development will generate.”

Steve Mellor, head of planning at Shanly Homes, said: “We have submitted plans for the brownfield site on the corner of Sidcup Hill and Cross Road for a development of 58 much-needed new homes in the area.

“Our designs are sympathetic to the existing Sidcup streetscape and are aiming to provide an attractive scheme offering contemporary living in the heart of the town. We await the council’s decision which is expected in the next few months.”
