A woman was sexually assaulted on a train to Erith.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after the incident which happened on board the 10.57pm Southeastern service from Cannon Street to Erith on Wednesday December 7. 

The woman, in her twenties, was on the train when the man say next to her and made intimidating sexual comments and touched her inappropriately. 

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "He forcibly held her hand preventing her from leaving the train.

"The victim was then able to leave the train at Erith, officers also believe the man did as well."

Investigating officer PC Greg Fulton, said: “Unwanted sexual or intimidating behaviour such as this is inexcusable and we are working hard to trace the person responsible. 

“During the journey, a member of the public became aware of this man’s behaviour and stepped in to assist. Were you this man? Please get in touch as you could also help us investigate.  

“As part of our investigation, we would be very keen to speak with the man in the CCTV image. I think he has vital information that could help us, if you know him, contact us as soon as possible.”
