A drink-driver has been jailed for running over a teenage girl in Bexleyheath.
Mark Shelton, of Marden Crescent, Bexley, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and drink-driving charges on July 11.
He was sentenced to 14 months in prison at Inner London Crown Court yesterday.
The 57-year-old was also banned from driving for five years and ordered to pay £200 in compensation.
The 15-year-old victim, thought to be a pupil at St Catherine’s School, was taken to hospital following the incident in Watling Street at 3.20pm on February 9.
The teenage girl was hit by Mark Shelton's car in Watling Street
The schoolgirl suffered a bump on her forehead, cuts to her legs, a bruised hip and other injuries.
Rian Bond, whose daughter witnessed the crash, told News Shopper: “It was at the school run time, he hit two parked cars on Old Road, one that had a child in it.
“Then he drove into a brick wall by the gasworks then drove off straight into Watling Street from Martens Avenue, without stopping.
“He hit a young girl - pinning her to a small tree - it’s amazing he didn’t cause a much worse accident.
“I do know that the young girl miraculously just suffered from cuts and bruises.
“So many children and parents walk down Old Road - it’s a miracle no one was killed.”
