An ex-Bexley school teacher wants to buy her house, called Norman, by winning a reality TV show.

If Deborah Hodge, 43, of Normanhurst Avenue, Bexleyheath, wins The Perfect World Project she’ll also be entitled to a black card entitling her to free travel anywhere else in the world.

The mum-of-four has been desperately trying to break into the TV and film circuit for the last few years and recently appeared on Channel 5’s “On Benefits and Proud” broadcast on August 11.

Ms Hodge has worked in schools across Bexley, Dartford and Bromley

“I am very pleased with the channel five programme that was aired as I come across as articulate, driven and creative as the producers said I would, Ms Hodge said, “Not benefit scum or chavvy at all.”

“I would love to get my story out there as I am a single mum fighting to be heard with a ticking clock as we live under the threat of eviction.

“I’m literally doing anything to be noticed.”

The ex-deputy headteacher told News Shopper she moved back to Bexleyheath in 2014 after her fiancé was sectioned after suffering a breakdown on returning from Afghanistan.

Ms Hodge has dedicated a number of artworks to Richard Branson, whose island is rumoured to be the film set for the TV show

Rather than returning to work she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a creative but has been publicly criticised for claiming £24,000 a year in benefits for the last two years.

In response to her critics Ms Hodge said: “The Mail Online presented me as a fame hungry idiot who left her teaching career to pursue notoriety.

“This couldn’t be further from the truth and I would love to be given the opportunity to speak out.

“I’m actually a novelist who has now found a publisher but even on a teaching salary would I be able to buy the property we live in.

“I’m a talented artist with huge interest in my artwork.”

The TV competition will involve ten finalists jetting off to a secret island location, possibly Richard Branson’s own Necker Island, to experience how the global elite live.

The Bexleyheath mum wants to win The Perfect World Project

To date, she has tweeted the self-made millionaire over 2,000 times and has a series of artwork dedicated to him.

If the creative try-hard was to win the six-figure-sum she wants to build a studio and “give back to the local community” by offering CV help, interview guidance and confidence building classes.

As well as art, the Bexleyheath reality tv star also wants to take on politics with the fame she is achieving.

“On paper I’m a 4x4 mum but I’m actually educated to PhD level and just trying to break the system.

“My experience as a deputy headteacher and training as a future leader means I have a lot of skills to help those wanting to get back to work,” Ms Hodge said, “I especially want to help single mums."
