A Belvedere woman says a “disgusting” car park in Bexleyheath is a health hazard.

Yvonne Fleming, 67, of Roberts Road, took her two five-year-old twin granddaughters to watch a movie at Cineworld Cinema last Friday.

She used the Cinema Car Park, situated next to the Gala Bingo in the Broadway, and was shocked by the amount of bird poo scattered around the top floor.

Ms Fleming said she had to wash her grandchildren’s shoes when they arrived back home.

She told News Shopper: “The entrance to the stairs and near the lift was filled with bird boo – it’s filthy.

“Nothing’s been done about it, and I know this because it’s not the first time I’ve called and complained to Bexley Council about this.

“When the movie finished we took the lift up to the top floor and even the inside of the lift was disgusting. I told my grandchildren not to press any buttons or touch anything.”

Ms Fleming added: “The car park is a health hazard – what would happen if a child slipped over and fell in the poo? It would be horrible.”

The grandmother wants the Cinema Car Park to be cleaned once a week.

She said: “It costs about three or four pounds to use the car park, they can at least get some people in to give it a good clean.

“But, if they do have them cleaning it, then the council needs to teach them how to clean properly. It should be cleaned every single week - it makes me feel sick.

“When we got home, I washed my grandchildren’s shoes straight away. I just can’t understand why the car park isn’t clean – people are being put at risk.”

A Bexley Council spokesman said: “We are sorry to hear of Ms Fleming’s experience in the Cinema Car Park.

“We will be working urgently with contractors to improve the problems currently being caused by birds in this particular car park.”
