A man has described the fallout of a hit-and-run in Sidcup which put a policeman in hospital.
Roy Barton, 71, of Sherwood Park Avenue, was in his home when he heard a commotion outside.
While dealing with the incident, Met Police say an officer was struck down by a car which drove away.
The 21-year-old man was taken to a south London hospital with injuries, and it left a woman in tears, according to Mr Barton.
He told News Shopper: “I only saw the aftermath of the incident when the police officer was already on the ground and his colleague was calling for assistance.
“There was a young woman in a red car who was shaking uncontrollably. She was also crying.”
The retired local government officer added: “The road was cordoned off while the man was being assisted – police dealt with the situation very well.
“There must have been eight uniformed police officers and two CID officers.”
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
