Erith is one of the best commuter towns in the country - according to a money comparison website.

Totally Money's new property ladder calculation tool helps those looking to move out of the City find their perfect home - by comparing travel time, the cost of commuting, the most desirable towns, and house prices.

The Bexley town ranked an impressive seventh in the list - with the lowest average house price of £238,459.

Erith commuters tend to pay £1,912 for their season tickets into London, spend 44 minutes travelling to work, and have an average disposable income of £21,539 per head per year.

The scores were calculated through a metric equation - whereby an average house price of nearly £2m was the worst out of 89, and of £165,851 was the best.

The worst yearly travel cost was £6,076 and the best £1,872. Meanwhile, the best travel time was 19 minutes - and the worst 45.

Erith was the only Kent or south east London town to make the top ten.

By comparison, Gravesend ranked 17th, Ebbsfleet 27th, Swanley 33rd, and Dartford 48th.
