Bexley Council has dismissed any bomb threats to local schools after rumours surfaced that terrorists were set to strike.

News Shopper recently received information from worried parents regarding letters from Bexley-based schools saying how they had made evacuation plans because of bomb scares.

Mum Sally Cudmore, 44, from Eltham, was initially concerned when she read the letter on Monday (February 1).

The psychic said: “I read a letter from my son’s school stating the council was aware of bomb threats to schools this week.

“I didn’t even want to send him into school and I was thinking ‘what a scary and sick world we live in.’

“I was panicking and very worried but when I looked into it further, I realised that it was only part of a procedure that schools were taking.”

Bexley Council was quick to squash the reports and wanted to reassure the public.

A spokesman said: “There have been no hoax bomb threats in Bexley.

“We have provided schools in the borough with national guidance from the police following a number of bomb hoax threats across the country.

“This advice is not to cause alarm or distress to parents or the children but to help our schools remain secure environments and minimise the disruption that any such malicious acts can cause.

“There is no cause for concern and parents and carers should continue to send their children to school as normal.”

Bexleyheath Broadway Shopping Centre was evacuated due to a bomb scare in December last year – but it was a false alarm.
