A 47-year-old man has been shot in Erith.

The man was found by Met police officers suffering a gun shot wound in his arm, in Crusoe Road, just after 2am this morning (December 11).

Police were called to reports of guns shots and screaming in the street and believe the man was shot through the door of his home, reportedly a hostel.

A Crusoe Road resident said: "Next door is a family with young children and across the road.

"Opposite are old people who are now scared to leave their homes."

He was taken to hospital by ambulance.

A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 2.02am to an incident on Crusoe Road.

"We had an ambulance and emergency response officer on the scene and was taken to hospital as a priority."

His injury is not thought to be life threatening.
