The majority of women living in Bromley, Bexley, Lewisham and Greenwich will live into their 80s, new statistics reveal.

The Office of National Statistics' data shows the average life expectancy for a man living in London is now 79.6 years and 83.8 years for women.

Bromley residents are set to live the longest with a woman’s average life expectancy standing at 84.7 years.

Men in Bromley are expected to live, on average, 80.9 years.

In Bexley, a man’s average life expectancy is 80.2 years and a woman’s 84.2.

Men in both Greenwich and Lewisham have an average life expectancy of 78.2 years.

The borough-by-borough breakdown shows someone is likely to live much longer, if they reside in one of the capital's wealthier boroughs.

Kensington and Chelsea residents are set to live the longest, with statistics for men standing at 82.1 years and 86.2 years for women.

Men in Tower Hamlets have the lowest life expectancy – 77.1 years.

Barking and Dagenham holds the lowest life expectancy for women - 81.9 years.
