The family of missing Abbey Wood pensioner Brian Smart has issued a heartfelt plea for information after he was last seen 11 days ago.

The 85-year-old, a keen golfer who is described as "fit and well", left his home on September 22 at around 7.30pm.

As the search moves into its third week, his son Mark, 53, today said: "We are so worried about my dad. If anyone has seen him or thinks they may have seen him please contact police as soon as possible.

"We are missing him terribly and any information could prove invaluable.

"My dad is well known in the area and the whole family is desperate for him to come home safe."

Mr Smart, who is white, 5ft 7ins and of medium build, is known to frequent Bexleyheath, Dartford and Bluewater.

His two grandchildren Harry and Holly, both in their 20s, said: "Please can you help us find our grandad. We love him very much and miss him everyday."

Before his birthday on Sunday Harry, 21, said: "I would love to have Pops with me so we can celebrate the day together. Please contact the police if you have any information."

Mr Smart usually wears a dark waist length jacket, blue jeans and dark shoes.

He walks with a stick and has no money or Oyster card.

Officers have been conducting extensive searches in the area and have conducted house to house enquiries.
