An 11-year-old boy was hospitalised yesterday (September 23), after being hit by a car in Belvedere.

The child was taken to a major trauma centre with head and leg injuries, after the collision on Yarnton Way at 4.45pm.

St Katherines Road resident Christine Griggs, 67, told News Shopper: "I didn't hear any sirens or anything.

"Mind you, you get used to it here.

"A lot of nights when you go out, there are kids out - they are here most nights."

A Waterfield Close resident, who asked not to be named, said: "That road's murder.

"We do not let our kids out there ever.

"There are no cameras. There's no restriction, nothing.

"There should be, because that bend goes so fast.

"The amount of accidents that happen out there..."

Her neighbour added: "I think he got off the bus and got hit."

An LAS spokesman said: "We were called at 4.48pm to a road traffic collision at Yarnton Way, Erith.

"We sent an ambulance crew and a single responder in a car and took a boy to a major trauma centre with head and leg injuries."

A Met Police spokesman added: "We were called at approximately 4.50pm to reports of a car in collision with a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian, a boy aged 11, was taken to a south London hospital for treatment to a leg injury - his injuries are not life threatening.

"The car stopped at the scene. No arrests were made.

"Officers from Bexley attended the scene."
