Train cancellations, delays and diversions are ongoing, after a fence panel near Abbey Wood brought services to a halt.
The metal piece of fencing has completely blocked the London to Dartford line, via Woolwich.
Passengers on the 10.10am train from Cannon Street to Dartford became stuck at 10.50am, on the Dartford side of Abbey Wood.
A Southeastern spokesman said: "We are currently working with Network Rail, to get the line up and running.
"We are diverting trains via Bexleyheath and Sidcup.
"We hope to get services on the move soon."
Passengers are advised to travel towards Dartford and change for London-bound services, or take the DLR.
Disruption is expected until 1pm today (Aug 25).
