Careless fly-tippers dumped a pile of burnt looking rubbish in the middle of a residential street in Sidcup on Sunday (August 23).

The pile at the end of Camborne Road, which almost resembles a bonfire, was reported to Bexley Council at around 5.30pm.

By 7pm the mound of rubbish had been removed.

Camborne Road resident Jamie Moreland said he was on his way out to dinner with his family when they spotted the pile.

Another similar size mound of rubbish was also left in neighbouring Wren Road.

The 15-year-old said: "We just thought it's disgusting and horrible but it must just be fly-tippers.

"It spilled across the whole road.

"We went up Wren Road, there was another huge pile at the top of Wren Road. A huge crowd of residents were up there looking at what was going on."

A spokeswoman for the council said yesterday: "The fly-tipped rubbish was removed yesterday (August 23) and we will be taking action against those responsible."

Reports suggest that CCTV footage of the culprits may have been obtained by a nearby resident.
