Bexley could lose more than 14,000 housing association properties - under the government's new Right to Buy policies.

Figures gathered by Tooting MP Sadiq Khan reveal 14,322 properties are at risk of being sold in the borough, and 438,291 across London as a whole.

The Mayoral candidate has claimed this will exaccerbate the "chronic" housing crisis, with no promise that new affordable housing will be built.

Mr Khan said: "We all know that London has a chronic housing crisis – we simply don’t have enough social housing for people to rent.

Mr Khan

"The government's solution is not to build more affordable homes in Bexley, instead they want to sell them off.

“They’re planning to force housing associations to sell their homes through Right to Buy – and what’s more, they’re planning to pay for this by forcing councils, like Bexley, to sell off large numbers of council homes on the open market.

“I think this is totally wrongheaded and will only make London’s housing crisis worse."
