A kind passer-by was assaulted after offering to help an allegedly pregnant woman who claimed she had been locked out of her home in Abbey Wood.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was driving along Harrow Manor Way at around 5am on July 17 when he was flagged down by a distressed woman who claimed to be heavily pregnant.

She begged the victim for help telling him that she had been locked out for two hours and was very tired.

The man immediately tried to help the woman.

He offered her a lift and the use of his phone.

She called a man named 'Frank' before asking to be driven to Lensbury Way in Thamesmead.

As soon as the car stopped, the allegedly pregnant woman grabbed the victim's mobile and ran off into a housing estate.
