Questions have been raised over how an estate banned from holding parties was able to host a rave which ended in a murder investigation.

Renea Campbell, 26, died following a triple stabbing outside the unlicensed London Igloo party in Abbey Wood's Lyndean Industrial Estate in the early hours of June 20.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a single stab wound.

Two men from Tottenham, 26-year-old Damian Fraser and Rennae Henriques, 28, have now been charged with the murder.

Residents have been reporting problems at the estate for years, leading to Greenwich Council going to court to get an injunction back in May.

But that did not stop the £20 a ticket London Igloo event - billed online as "the only party where you can bring your own bottles" - taking place with hundreds of revellers involved, according to neighbours.

One  46-year-old Felixstowe resident, who asked not to be named, told News Shopper after the incident: "Normally they kick them out at 6am but this time it was 5am."

They said: "I reckon there was about 350 people here last night. They were coming out in their droves."

The mum-of-one said the site was notorious for raves and churches operating out of the industrial units without permission.

She added: "Why should it have come to this? Why has it come to this to do something?

"We were told there was a court order stopping any more raves."

A spokesman for Greenwich Council said: "Following a number of complaints received about disruption and noise to residents caused by unlicensed events and activities at Lyndean Industrial Estate in Abbey Wood, the Royal Borough last month took out an injunction against the owners of a number of units on the site operating illegal parties, events and church services.

"We are grateful to those local residents who worked with us towards making the strong case for the legal injunction to be put into place at the beginning of June.

"We are aware that following a serious incident at an unlicensed party last weekend, a young man has lost his life. The Royal Borough would like to express its condolences to the family and friends of the victim, and we urge anyone with information to contact the police."
