A community in Sidcup has paid tribute to "lovely man" Arthur Walters-Girout, 82, who was found dead in his home one week ago.

The pensioner has been described as a gentleman and dear friend by neighbours who lay flowers outside his home in Pembury Crescent.

One card read: "Arthur- such a lovely man who will be sorely missed in our community. God bless you, our thoughts are with your family."

Another card addressed to "Our dear friend Arthur" read: "So, so sorry you will be greatly missed by us all".

Kel Blake, who lives in neighbouring Riverside Road, said she lay flowers on Tuesday out of sadness and respect.

She said: "I never knew the elderly gentleman but people who knew him said what a lovely man he was. It's such a sad world we live in.

"My heart goes out to the family and thoughts. God bless Arthur."
