Football stars have been offering words of wisdom to Bexley students.

Charlton Athletic first team players Joe Gomez and André Bikey visited the Business Academy Bexley for a question and answer session last Tuesday (April 21).

They gave advice about motivation, resilience and strength of character in an attempt to inspire the Year 11 students, who are on the verge of their final exams.

England Under 18 squad player Joe Gomez, who was recently nominated for the Championship’s apprentice of the year award, said: "I recently just left school myself, so it’s great to come here and talk to the students.

"It’s so interesting for these young people to see a different perspective on life from someone who’s a similar age."

Vice principal Niall Fallon said: "It was a thought provoking inspiration and a true insight into the resilience, hard work and dedication required to forge a pathway in life using professional football as a positive example."

The session was part of Charlton Athletic Community Trust’s social inclusion project.
