North Bexley needs more pharmacies with longer opening hours, a report has revealed.
A ‘Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment’ commissioned by the Bexley Health and Wellbeing Board shows that the north of the borough currently has below the average number of pharmacies compared to other London boroughs.
It also found that longer opening hours are needed across the borough in the mornings from 8am and in the Frognal area after 8pm in the evenings in order for residents to be able to access services after seeing their GP.
Bexley Council leader and chairman of the Bexley Health and Wellbeing Board, Coun Teresa O’Neill said: “This is a comprehensive assessment of the location and the types of services that local Pharmacies provide in Bexley, and I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to take part in the consultation.
"It is important that we ensure that the needs of local people are met and this assessment will be used to inform the way that the NHS commission services in the future.”
