Food doesn’t get much more straightforwardly brilliant than the trusty sandwich.

A lunch staple across the nation, south east London and north Kent has some great places to pick up all sorts of food stuffed between chunks of bread.

We asked our Twitter and Facebook followers for their top tips and here’s where they came up with. Follow @JimNewsShopper or like our Facebook page to get involved with future quests.

The Granary

The Row, New Ash Green

Owner Grant Wren, who runs The Granary with wife Tania, said: “We use our own bread that is baked daily within our bakery on-site and the sandwiches and rolls are also made fresh every day with fillings made from scratch, e.g fresh roast chicken, crayfish tails ( much tastier than your everyday prawn!) Scottish smoked salmon, oven baked smoked bacon to name just a few.”

“Bread used ranges from our crusty white bread, the lovely malted brown bread to the ever growing in popularity multigrain low GI bread, which is absolutely delicious.

“All our veg and salads used come direct from Broadditch Farm Shop in Southfleet so we know they are fresh.

“We also create seasonal fillings at the appropriate times of year to keep the interest up.”

Sandwiches start from £1.10 and their coffee is fresh ground too.
