Detectives in Bexley are appealing for information after a distraction burglary in Welling in which a couple in their 70s lost their life savings.

At 3pm Monday February 23, three men went to the house in Falconwood Avenue to carry out some work on the roof.

The men worked on the roof for a short while before distracting the victims by moving around the house and asking the victims to hold things for them while they worked.

The suspects had left the property before the victims realised that anything was wrong.

They stole a safe containing £20,000 and the victims’ passports.

Suspect one was referred to as 'Tony' and is described as a white man in his mid-twenties, who is thin with short black hair.

He spoke with an English accent and drove a small 4x4 silver/grey van, possibly a Suzuki Vitara.

Suspect two is described as a white man, aged in his mid-thirties with a beer belly, short greying hair, light brown round glasses and a ragged complexion. He was wearing a padded jacket.

Suspect 3 is described as a white man, aged in his early twenties and thick set. He was wearing a navy blue woollen jacket.

Anyone with any information should contact DC Brad Clough at Bexley Police’s CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
