Four people have been charged over fraud offences linked to an Erith-based scrap metal company.

This follows a police raid at City Scrap London Limited's headquarters in Maypole Crescent and on a terraced house in Rochdale Road, Abbey Wood, on July 14.

Barbara Kurjaz, 34, of Rochdale Road, Greenwich, has been charged with 11 counts of permitting another to drive with no insurance, one count of using a disqualified driver and one count of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation.

Keith Penning, 48, of the Avenue, West Wickham, has been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation and one count of fraud by abuse of position. UPDATE: Mr Penning was acquitted of the charges against him in 2015.

Joanna Wawrzonek, 38, of Rochdale Road, Greenwich, has been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation and one count of fraud by false representation.

Jacek Kriger, 42, of Maypole Crescent, Erith, has been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation and one count of drink drive.

All four have been bailed to appear at Bexley Magistrates Court on December 19.
