Two brave youngsters from Mottingham helped spread Christmas cheer across Bexleyheath - despite their dad suffering a brain tumour.

Santa's arrival at the Broadway Shopping Centre on November 8 was extra special for six-year-old Gabby Noyce and her brother, Harry, four as they helped the man in red open his grotto.

Funds raised by visitors to the grotto will be donated to the Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice, which has been a lifeline for the youngsters since hearing the news their beloved dad, John, 35, had aggressive cancer last year.

John collapsed in Singapore during a work trip and endured hours of surgery followed by intensive chemotherapy after the tumour was discovered.

Mum, Vicky Noyce, aged 35, said: "They have been really good to us so it’s great to see so many people here for the grotto, supporting the hospice and it was lovely to see all the volunteers here.

"It has been amazing. Really magical for the kids. There are huge cuddly, moving reindeer, penguins and lots of glittery, sparkly stuff everywhere. It’s all very Christmassy."
