Bexley Council is bracing itself for winter by preparing for the cold.
Salt stocks for the borough's roads have been replenished, with 6,000 tonnes in stock, and five front-line gritters have been serviced, ready for action.
The council is also inviting residents to join its voluntary Community Salt Wardens scheme, whereby people spread rock salt on their roads across the borough during icy or snowy conditions.
Bexley's winter maintenance service runs from October to April. It covers all principal, main and secondary distributor roads and as well as those with steep gradients.
