An Erith civil servant is "over the moon" to have won a national song award for the third year in a row.

Wayne Jacobs, 53, was awarded the ukcountryradio.com Listeners Club Song Award 2014 for In Cold Blood, about a homeless man shot dead in Nashville two years ago.

The luxurious prize ceremony was held in Derby earlier this month, where Mr Jacobs was stunned to win again.

The civil servant, who lives in Riverdale Road, Erith, said: "I’m over the moon.

"I just sang it from the heart and had it produced in Nashville.

"It’s the third year in a row I won it. The other songs were for Kentucky Whiskey and I Want My Daddy.

"In Cold Blood is a sad song - it’s a true story about an homeless man who was killed on a park bench in 2012."
