A Belvedere great-grandmother celebrated her 100th birthday in style with three different parties.

Anne Waller, of Laymarsh Close, Belvedere, grew up in Bethnal Green but has now made a life in Bexley and chose to spend one of her celebrations at The Leather Bottle in Heron Hill, one of her locals.

Around 50 people attended with four generations of her family there. This included Ms Waller’s brother, along with her three children, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Daughter-in-law Maria Waller said: "She’s actually had three different parties for her birthday.

"Anne likes to party and well, if you’re going to do it, do it with style.

"She is still very independent."

After leaving school in 1940, Ms Waller worked for most of her life as a cleaner at a school in east London.

She also volunteered for the Royal Voluntary Service, an organisation which supports older people, at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in Smithfield. Ms Waller has lived in Belvedere for around 10 years.
