Hundreds of cyclists are set to get on their bikes in south east London for charity.

Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice’s Big Bike Ride on Sunday, October 5, is the largest sponsored ride in the area.

Starting at 10am, it will snake along the Thames Cycle Path from Erith to Greenwich via the Firepower Museum in Woolwich.
The here starting points – in Erith, Greenwich and Woolwich – will mean riders of all abilities can tackle routes from 12 to 27 miles.

The hospice’s fundraising manager, Sarah O’Halloran said: “This is such a lovely event for families and keen cyclists alike, the routes take in the sights and sounds of the world- famous River Thames. It’s one of our most popular events and people return year after year to take part.

“The Thames Path is the ideal location for cyclists of all abilities, it’s a wonderful day out for all the family.”

The ride is supported by Wheelies in Northumberland Heath and Dr Bike in Greenwich, who will provide free bike safety checks and mobile workshops to help cyclists with mechanical problems. Riders will also get finisher’s medal, a bottle of water and there will be refreshments available along the route.

Registration costs £10 for adults, £5 children aged five to 15 and £25 for families of two adults and two children. Riders are encouraged to raise as much money as they can in sponsorship too.

The first 50 families registered will get a Frankie and Benny’s Kids Eat Free voucher too.
