A Bexleyheath woman has been left devastated after losing her late husband's wedding ring just weeks after he died from cancer.

Helen Evans, aged 44, who lives in Bexleyheath, lost her husband, 46-year-old Nick, following a 21 month battle with cancer on August 4.

The couple, who had been married almost 10 years, have two young children, Ben, aged eight, and five-year-old Layla.

Mrs Evans said: "It was very unexpected - I know that sounds silly but he went into hospital and it happened very quickly.

"Nick's wedding ring was the only item of jewellery he always wore and so really, this was all we had to remember him by. I had worn the ring since the day we lost him and although I knew it was loose, I felt like I could not take it off."

Mr Evan's ring is described as a man's plain, heavy, platinum wedding band.

The grieving widow believes she could have lost it on August 14 sometime between 2pm and 5.30pm in Crayford whilst she watched her daughters dance show at the Europa gym or at Sports Direct whilst she bought her son some new football boots before going into Next at the Tower Retail Park.

However, there is also a chance the ring could have gone missing at Bexleyheath train station or on the 1.10pm train from Bexleyheath to Cannon Street as Mrs Evan's travelled to Guy's Hospital at London Bridge to meet her husband's consultant on August 15.

She said: "During that meeting I was aware that I was not wearing Nick's ring. I do not remember putting it on in the morning, although with the amount of things I am trying to juggle, I guess I could have done.

"I have searched high and low ever since, but to no avail. If anyone has picked up a man's plain, heavy, platinum wedding band and are wondering what they should do with it, I would be eternally grateful if you could contact me.

"Words cannot express how much this would mean to me."

If you have picked up a man's plain, heavy, platinum wedding band please call Helen on 07712 158007. A reward is being offered.
