Belvedere is reported to have the lowest driving test pass rates in the country.

A study has revealed the disparity between people shedding their L-plates across the country and the district in Bexley is believed to only have a 31 per cent pass rate.

By contrast Kelso in Scotland has a success rate of more than twice this (70 per cent).

The report compiled data from last years’ results from the Driving Standards Agency.

Charlotte Fielding of Privilege Car Insurance, which wrote the report, told the Metro: “The general rule is if you are driving on busier roads and complex road systems, your driving test is likely to be tougher.”

A spokeswoman for the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency which replaced the DSA earlier this year, said:  “Pass rates can be influenced by various factors. Some people may take more lessons and be better prepared for the test.

"Statistical factors can also play a part as the number of tests conducted at different test centres varies significantly.

“We train examiners to a high standard and closely monitor their work to ensure that all tests are assessed consistently wherever they are taken.”
