A huge blaze in a derelict Sidcup building was tackled by more than 40 firefighters.
Seven fire engines were called to the old Klinger building in Edgington Way at around 3pm yesterday.
A pile of tyres and rubbish was found alight causing a large plume of black smoke to be seen for miles.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus to bring the fire under control while a Met helicopter was called in to search for homeless people who had reportedly escaped onto the roof.
Nobody was found and there were no reports of any injuries.
