Erith man found guilty of posessing imitation firearm in £50,000 cash in transit raid

AN ARMED robber from Erith has been found guilty of possessing an imitation firearm as part of his role in a £50,000 cash in transit raid.
George Brockett, 25, of Mangold Way, denied possessing the weapon with intent to commit robbery but a jury found him guilty at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday.
The offence relates to a raid on September 19 last year at a service station in Cuxton Road, Strood.
Brockett, along with Alfie Barker, 18, also of Mangold Way and Michael McClusky, 25, of Brinkburn Close in Abbey Wood, has already pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery.
The trio will be sentenced at the same court on March 22.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Wayne Totterdell from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: "Brockett has tried to play down how big a part he played in the cash in transit robbery by denying he agreed to the use of an imitation firearm despite evidence showing otherwise.”
