LOVED-UP diners in Bexley are encouraged to consult restaurant inspection reports before heading out with their Valentine.

Bexley Council is reminding diners the latest ratings and inspection results from restaurants, takeaways and food shops are available on the Food Standard Agency’s website.

Bexley Council’s cabinet member for the environment and public realm Councillor Gareth Bacon said: "We've all seen horror stories on TV shows about filth and dangerous practices in some restaurants that can lead to customers becoming ill.

"At this time of year, many couples choose to go out for a meal to celebrate.

“We want to make sure our residents are making informed choices about where to go, and that the food is as safe as possible for them to eat."

A rating of zero is the lowest rating an establishment can be given whilst a rating of five means food hygiene is good.
