UP AND coming table tennis players at Welling School have received a boost following a generous donation of equipment.

The school, in Elsa Road, were given four table tennis tables thanks to an initiative between the Jack Petchey Foundation and the England Table Tennis Association.

Physical education Teacher at the school Alex McWhinnie said: “Since the arrival of these tables, table tennis has become a very popular sport at our school.

“The students have been inspired by the Olympic Games and are enjoying challenging each other during their PE lessons, breaks and after school clubs.

“They really enjoy playing against the teachers too.”

Across London the Jack Petchey Foundation has donated table tennis tables to 53 schools as well as table tennis equipment packs.

The foundation aims to help develop the potential in young people aged between 11 and 25 in London.
