A FIVE-YEAR-OLD girl was rescued from a Thamesmead flat after fire broke out yesterday evening.
Ten firefighters were called to the flat in Fleming Way at 6:45pm and the young girl was treated at the scene by paramedics for the effects of smoke inhalation.
A woman who escaped before firefighters arrived at the flat was also treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire caused only a small amount of damage to the flat inside.
Two fire engines from Plumstead fire station attended the scene and had the flames under control by 7:13pm.
London Fire Brigade says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
