PARENTS and carers in the borough of Bexley have until January 15 2013 to apply for their children’s primary school places for September 2013.

Admission is open to children born between September 1 2008 and August 31 2009.

Applicants can list preferences for up to six schools, whether in Bexley or other areas.

Those who do not live in the borough of Bexley need to apply through their home local authority.

Applications can be made at bexley.gov.uk/admissions.

Paper application forms are also available from primary schools and council offices.

There is also a guide called Admission to Primary Schools in Bexley 2013/14 which is available online. It contains advice on the application process.

Late applications will not be dealt with until all on time applications have been processed.

Parents who apply online will receive an email with details of the school offered after 5pm on 17 April 2013.

Those offered their first preference school will not receive a separate letter.

A letter advising all other parents of the outcome of their application will be posted to their home address by first class post on Wednesday 17 April 2013.

Councillor John Fuller, cabinet member for education, said: “We want to ensure parents and carers have the time to find a school that’s right for their child, with an application process that is as simple and worry free as possible.

“This is such an important and exciting time for young children and we have an amazing selection of good schools to offer.

“I would urge parents to take their time when they apply and think about the options available, but keep the deadline in mind!”

Last year, over 83% of families were offered a place at their first preference school in Bexley.
