Brother’s tribute to murdered teenager

THE brother of murdered schoolboy Jimmy Mizen has been paying tribute to the younger brother he called Jimbo.
The teenager was killed in an unprovoked attack at the Three Cooks shop at the junction of Burnt Ash Hill and Woodyates Road, Lee, at 11.50am on Saturday.
Speaking at the family shop in Sidcup High Street, where Jimmy, 16, worked most Saturdays, Danny Mizen, 30, said: "He had a great life. He was a great boy and I am proud to be his brother."
He said the family had run the general purpose shop for 22 years.
Mr Mizen added: "It was Jimbo's job to cut the keys on a Saturday, finish off the shoe repairs and tidy up.
"When he was about three and Harry (another brother) was five, dad used to sit them in the window wearing aprons and give them a pot of glue' which was really water, and some old shoes to stick heels on.
"Jimbo always said afterwards he knew it was water."
The shop, which had been closed following the murder, reopened yesterday.
Mr Mizen, who works full time with his father, Barry, said: "People have been coming in non-stop with cards and have left more than 20 bunches of flowers.
"The response from people has been very heartening and it has got the family through this difficult time."
He added: "Because we have so many brothers and sisters we have lots of bunches of friends who are all offering us help and support."
Mr Mizen spoke movingly about the family's visit to view Jimmy's body on Monday.
He said: "We were so happy we got to see him. I could have stayed the whole day with him.
"It was really helpful for my two poor brothers who were with Jimmy when it happened, to see him lying asleep so peacefully."
Up until 18 months ago Jimmy, who was 6ft 4ins tall, played rugby at Sidcup Rugby Club, where Mr Mizen was, until last year, the first team captain.
He said: "Jimmy was known as Little Miz. He was an okay rugby player but he really enjoyed the camaraderie."
Mr Mizen added: "There are a lot of people devastated over Jimmy's death but there are so many loving people out there, it has warmed our hearts."
There will be a memorial service at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Burnt Ash Hill, Lee, on Saturday at noon.

I Dont Know The Family But They Seem Like A Close, Loving Family, The Parents Of Jimmy Bought Him Up Right But Sadly He Lost His Life.
