An owner is pleading for information after her beloved African grey parrot went missing from St Mary Cray.

Michelle Andrews, 46, was at a friend’s in Broomfield House, in Cotmandene, last night (April 15) when Albert the parrot escaped.

Albert is grey with a distinctive red tail and a white claw on each foot, as well as an ID ring on his foot.

Eight-month-old Albert managed to undo the door in his carrier around 7.30pm, and flew away in the direction of Bromley.

Ms Andrews, also from Broomfield House, said: “He somehow opened the catch; he’s done it on his indoor cage but never on this one.

“I’ve been out all night and all morning.

News Shopper:

Albert as a baby

“He’s still finding his parrot voice, he’s still a baby but he can say ‘hello’ and ‘alright’ but mostly wolf whistles, really loudly.”

A local parrot trainer is bringing a specially trained parrot to assist in the search for Albert.

Ms Andrews, who has had him since he was 12 weeks old, added: “He’s most likely in a wooded area.

“I’m worried about others finding him and selling him on, I paid £695 but you can get £1,000 for him.

“They would probably hurt him by trying to take the ring off which needs to be done surgically.”
